Puppets
Once upon a time I got so lucky as to be puppet maker for a rendition of Alice in Wonderland. T med Alice (“T with Alice”) at Sjællandsteatret. Scenographer and mechanism maker was Nicolaj Spangaa. Costumes by Helle Birkholm.
These nine, curious Hobbits were made from vacuum formed scraps that other makers sculpted. I made new characters out of the scraps, sewed costumes, airbrushed, made their props and styled their hair. They are designed by Ida Marie Ellekilde for The Royal Danish Theatre’s rendition of The Hobbit in 2021.
Dwarfs below are made by a wonderfully large team of puppet makers. I did the airbrush paint job on them. There were four of each. They are designed by Ida Marie Ellekilde for The Royal Danish Theatre’s rendition of The Hobbit in 2021.
Gilda the hand puppet
Made for the Opera Rigoletto, this was a hand puppet version of one of the characters. A tailor sewed this costume.
Duke the hand puppet
Made for the Opera Rigoletto, this was a hand puppet version of one of the characters. A tailor sewed some of this costume, I fit the rest onto the mechanism. It is unfortunately missing a hand and a foot in this video.
Singing hand puppet
Made for fun, designed by me.
Pimp rod puppet
Made for fun, designed by me.
Frograt
This unfinished, RC controlled, mechanical pile of exploding carrot-puppet, made for the contemporary dance performance Kill Your Darlings, was ironically killed from the show before I had finished making them. (Yes, they were non-binary.)
